Octomore 2012 12 Year Old 2nd Fill Rivesaltes Single Cask 56.3%

his rare Octomore Single Cask Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a UK-exclusive release, distilled in 2012 from barley peated to an extraordinary 156 PPM and matured for 12 years in a second-fill Rivesaltes cask. Hand-selected by Master Distiller Adam Hannett and matured and bottled on Islay, this single cask outturn of just 300 bottles is presented at a powerful 56.3% ABV. Polished gold in colour, it delivers intense BBQ smoke on the nose alongside ginger nut biscuits, tropical fruits, brown sugar and aniseed, while the palate reveals toasted oak, worn leather, iodine, praline, dried fruits and candied citrus. The finish is long and expressive, combining sweet oak, baking spices and lingering dry, earthy smoke with a gentle herbal note. Bottled at 700ml, this unrepeatable release showcases Octomore’s boundary-pushing approach to peat, terroir and cask influence at its most extreme.
